Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a fee range for psychological evaluations?
A psychological evaluation will provide you with important information about your overall psychological functioning and assist with the selection of the best possible treatment. The specific test selected depends on the particular issue that is being assessed. Evaluations can range from brief screening tests to comprehensive cognitive and/or personality assessments. The cost of the evaluation depends on the issues being assessed and the combination of tests that are part of the evaluation.
Do you accept insurance?
We currently accept most Aetna and Cigna plans.
Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?
No, you do not need a referral. Please use our office line or begin your Pre-Screening to schedule your appointment.
Does Sunrise offer telehealth services?
Yes, we offer teletherapy and telepsychiatry. Telepsychiatry is limited to non-controlled psychiatric medications.
How do I contact my provider between appointments?
If you need to reach your provider between visits, please call our office at 352-404-6589. Our providers are in session throughout the day, so our front desk team will take your message and relay it promptly. Your provider—or a clinical team member—will return your call as soon as they are able.
How do you handle medication refills?
If you are running low on medication, please contact the office to request a refill.
Please allow up to 72 hours for processing.
Some medications require an appointment or follow-up visit before they can be refilled. If this applies to your prescription, our team will let you know and help you schedule the necessary visit.
What is the difference between seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medications, and provide medical management of symptoms. Therapists (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, and sometimes PsyD) provide talk therapy to help you explore emotions, understand patterns, and build coping skills.
Many clients benefit from a combination of both, receiving medication management from the psychiatrist and ongoing therapy for deeper emotional work and skill building.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed without notice—will incur a $75 late-cancellation or no-show fee.
This policy allows our providers to reserve dedicated time for each client and ensures availability for others who may need an appointment.
What is the process for a psychological evaluation?
The process includes an initial consultation, followed by insurance authorization (which can take a few weeks). Once approved, you’ll complete the testing, the provider will score and interpret results, and you’ll return for a feedback session. A written report is provided afterward
How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Most evaluations include a 30–60 minute consultation, testing that ranges from 1–6 hours, and a feedback session. Reports are usually completed about 4 weeks after testing. However, this can vary.
